Working Hunter League (2 of 6) – 25.11.12
Woo hoo Working Hunter at Laurel View
Working Hunter is well underway at Laurel View this winter, the second leg on 25th November saw a good turnout of high calibre entries from across the province.
Ponies had their place first. Julie Lee Radcliffe and Bobbi Fleming on Hullablue and Zinnia Z did not put a foot wrong over the 50cm Newcomer course, so it was down to judge Emma Fleming to decide on Phase 2 marks who had the slight edge and on this occasion it was Bobbi Fleming and Zinna Z that took home the red rosette.
Buzz and Megan Dumigan earned a 1st place for their performance over the Novice Pony 60cm course, though Katie Crozier and Maisy should be equally pleased with their 2nd place.
A very strong Intermediate Pony class had more than a few problems over the 75cm course, those that received the red and blue rosette were the only ones that made it round without faltering. The red was presented to Rachel Black on Schuey and the blue to Barney and Tara Murphy.
Onto the Open Pony Class with the course at 90cm and here Lois Larmour and Brandy were the clear winners.
Sheila and Sam McAteer took on the judging of the horse classes and the 70cm Warm Up class was the ideal class to get things underway in this section. Penny and Katie McClay put in a fine performance to pick up first place, Molly and Terri McAlister dropped a point for their way of going, putting them in second place.
The 4 year olds jumped the same 70cm course and this time it was Emma Jackson on Monty that took the top spot, with the second also going to Emma paired with Archie.
The fences were adjusted up by 10cm for the Novice Horse class next. Miriam Wright and The Castletown Lad put in a fine performance to take first place. Rockmount Vice Versa and Claire Sloan took home the second rosette.
The Smalls put in a superb performance over the 80cm fences with Lady B and Georgie Young picking up points were it mattered. Molly and Terri McAlister were only a few points behind in second.
Sadly no cobs were entered on the day so the fences were moved on up to the 90cm Intermediate track. This class gave a sterling performance, in the end the red was awarded to Charlie and Lucca Stubington with a blue for Ralph and Emma Fleming.
Last but by no means least was the Open metre class and taking the honours here was Lynne Tennis on Blackwood Quantumrebel, with Lucca Stubington and Charlie taking second on this occasion.
Capturing the competitors at the pertinent point was the Equi-Tog photographer, who can be contacted at info@equi-tog.com
Winter is wearing on but there is one last Working Hunter date on the 2012 Laurel View calendar, which is the third leg of the league on Sunday 16th December, once again with ponies from 10am and the horses following after (no sooner than 1.30pm)
