Pre Balmoral Show Results (at last!)

A blustery day is what it has taken to get me sat at my computer to finish off these results, apologies to all those waiting to see their names posted!!

Pre Balmoral action at Laurel View

Recent unusually dry weather caused worry about ground being too hard, but a timely deluge, a spattering of sunshine and a feisty wind left the ground at Laurel View near perfect for the jumping and showing at the Pre Balmoral Show on 8th May.

Rachelle Harding had the task of judging the Working Hunter Horses, a great entry kept her very busy for several hours, but when all the jumping and judging was complete it was Orchard Affair ridden by Erin Faloona that took the Championship with Shane O’Grady riding Diamond Max into reserve place.

Pony entries may have been low in number, but their style, conformation and turnout did not disappoint judge Geraldine Lowry.  After the classes she declared Jack ridden by Jake Leathem the Riding Pony Champion and Jeffrey ridden by Lauren Finn the Reserve Champion.

The Pony Working Hunter competition got underway mid afternoon, judged by Marina Monteith, Charlotte Harding and Safety First put on a super performance to earn themselves the Championship spot with Claire Gilchrist and Admiral delighted to be declared Reserve Working Hunter Pony Champion.

The Hunters and Riding Horses were assessed and adjudicated by Jan Martin and Joy Lindsay and when all the judging was complete it was Robin Herron on the Small Hunter winner Done and Dusted that took the Champion Hunter title. Curolea Riva ridden by Fiona Thompson took the Reserve Champion honours.

Thanks are expressed to all the judges for their expertise, scribes for their time and attention, to the Equi-tog photographer for capturing the competitors in action and to all the staff and helpers for setting up the field and course for the show (and setting it up again when the wind blew it down!) A special mention goes to Colemans who supplied plants and trees to dress the course. Not forgetting the competitors who had travelled from all over the province for the opportunity to compete.

Hopefully this Pre Balmoral run out was beneficial for those entered for the Royal Ulster competitions helping them to pick up a rosette or two.

Balmoral marks the start of the Summer Show Season, so although the weather might not have caught on yet now is the time for summer schedules to get underway.  At Laurel View this includes Derby and Dressage Leagues, a 2 phase or two, Go As You Pleases whenever the ground conditions are suitable and much more.  To keep up to date with what is happening at Laurel View check out www.laurelview.co.uk or get social and follow Laurel View on Facebook at facebook.com/laurelview alternatively you could just give the office a ring on 028 9083 0649.
