BHS Equitation Competition
Equitation Excellence at Laurel View
Laurel View likes to offer competitions and activities for their non-horse owning patrons as often as possible and the British Horse Society Equitation Competition is a perfect example of this. It offers young non-horse owners throughout the UK the opportunity to compete, win prizes and qualify for a grand final. The competition consists of a dressage test, show jumping course and a set of equine related general knowledge questions.
Sunday 10th April was the date that Riding School pupils had been practicing for, learning dressage tests, revising equine topics and getting geared up for jumping. Shelagh Laird, British Horse Society Inspector was invited along to lend her expertise to adjudicate affairs.
When all the points were added up Sophie Galloway on board Bruno came out on top of the 13 Years and under class, with Bob ridden by Katie McDonnell the second placed pair.
Competition was fierce in the 17 Years and under category, with Amy Neill and Sly emerging victorious at the end of the day, a point or two ahead of Stephanie Harper and Tinker.
While these winners may not go on to compete at the UK finals for logistical reasons, they are justifiably proud of their achievements and very pleased with the riding lessons vouchers they received as prizes.
