Working Hunter League Final – 21.4.13

The rescheduled final date of the Laurel View Working Hunter League on 21^st April did not see too many competitors forward, but as Judges Audrey and Michael Smyth will testify the calibre of entry was still high and the course and facilities that were available were superb.

The ribbons were distributed well around the competitors and below is a roundup of results from the last two legs of the league.

Those taking home the pony league prize rosettes with them included Sophie Winn on The Ferryman and Rachel Black on her trusty steed Schuey. The horses claiming the red ribbons were Embarcadero ridden by Sonia Tester and Kirsty Marsdens 4 year old Loughmourne Diamond. Congratulations to all the league winners for your winning performance.

It’s only fitting as we conclude another enjoyable league at Laurel View that thanks are expressed to all that have made it possible.  First of all the competitors who came from far and wide to compete, thanks also to their entourage who make it possible for them to get here.  Judges and scribes, to you thanks are extended for sharing your time and expertise. To all the Laurel View team including the Equi-Tog photography team, course builders and runners, you all help to make it happen.

The working hunter fences get a bit of break for a while, in the hope that Summer arrives this year to allow competitors to get out over the open air natural fences on the cross country course and playground.  The Summer Derby League will be the first event to attempt to get out onto the grass on Sunday 5^th May.  Should the weather not play ball at least we have a very satisfactory plan B using the newly resurfaced all weather arena.  The derby fun is scheduled to get going over a 60cm course at 12.30pm, all entries gladly taken on the day.
