Open Farm Weekend Prize Winners
OK it was a little while ago (23rd & 24th June!!) but as is quite often the case with me, better late than never. 😉
Anyhow way back then we had a few wee competitions going on to add a little extra interest for all the visitors to Laurel View over the Open Farm Weekend.
One that was ran, adjudicated and awarded on the Sunday was the Duck Doo competition. Participants picked a numbered square on the board between 1 and 80 and then when the Duck was released onto the board at the end of the weekend the winner was the person whose square the duck left its “doo” on!!! The winner of the voucher for this competition was Amanda Jamison (Antrim) from the “Absolute Wood” trade stand, who coincidentally had a lovely display of wooden ducks who wouldn’t be responsible for any doo!!!
Among the many animals on display at the weekend were two gorgeous wee foals, visitors were asked to help name a pony. The winning name was “Minty” as we felt this was most appropriate as the foals dad was “Polo” our Kerry Bog Pony Stallion, the person who earned a voucher for naming the foal was Emma Fleming from Doagh.
People who puchased and completed one of the Laurel View Farm Quiz Sheets discovered a whole lot more about the animals and birds that live at Laurel View, the winner drawn from the completed sheets was Gemma Forsythe, Newtownabbey.
Congratulations to all the winners, we trust they enjoy spending their vouchers at some point at Laurel View. But the biggest winner of the weekend was the charity collection for the future development of facilities and equipment for the four Riding for Disabled Groups that meet at Laurel View, almost £700 was collected through donations from the public and trade stands, games, competition entries and pony rides.
